Ponds and the Computational Grid

For the 2D calculation to proceed in an efficient manner, all open-air ponds are treated as an interface between the 2D surface and the 1D hydraulic network.

This means the following:

The area the pond takes up on the computational grid will be removed from the map and voided out. This excludes the ponds area from the 2D calculation.
The depth of the pond is determined by the 1D calculation engine and not by the 2D engine.
Flow can enter and exit the pond from and to the surface from the pond boundary.
