Bentley OpenUtilities CONNECT Edition Help

To Create New Macro Units and Compatible Units

The New Compatible Unit dialog box is used to create both macro units and compatible units. This dialog box is accessed with the New Unit command on the File menu. If the Units folder is open, this command is also available on the Actions menu.

Once you have created a record of the unit with this dialog box, you can use the Unit Assistant to specify the components of the unit. For information on building units, see Using the Unit Assistant and Building Units.

When you create a new unit, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer adds it to the list of units displayed in the Units view. It is also added to Compatible Units page of the Units Catalog. If the unit is private, it will appear in the catalog in the Private group; if public, it is grouped numerically or alphabetically by its name. If you add a component from the Macros page or the Compatible Units page, the compatible unit becomes a macro unit and is transferred to the Macros page of the catalog. If its components consist of materials only, the unit remains on the Compatible Units page.
