Tint |
The "rainbow" of colors controls tint (hue and saturation). The left side of the rectangle is fully saturated with color; no whiteness is mixed in. To the right, the saturation level drops off as whiteness is added. Within the rectangle, an inverse "X" pointer marks the selected tint. Dragging the pointer changes the tint.
The position of the pointer corresponds directly to the Hue and Saturation fields if HSV is chosen as the alternate color model.

Shade |
The shade rectangle (to the right of the tint rectangle) controls shade or brightness for the specified tint. The rectangle ranges from all black at the bottom to the specified tint at the top with decreasing amounts of blackness along the way. A horizontal bar that extends across the rectangle marks the selected brightness. Dragging the pointer vertically changes the brightness.
The position of the pointer corresponds directly to the Value field if HSV is chosen as the alternate color model.

Eyedropper |
To select a color using the eyedropper, click the eyedropper, continue to hold down the mouse button, drag your cursor to the location of the desired color, then click OK. |
Color Model |
You can also set the color based on any of these color models. The models provide different ways to specify the same color; the color set is the same regardless of the model used. RGB (red, green, and blue) — OpenBuildings Speedikon internal color model.
- Red - Valid range is from 0 (no red) to 255 (full red)
- Green - Valid range is from 0 (no green) to 255 (full green)
- Blue - Valid range is from 0 (no blue) to 255 (full blue)
HSV (hue, saturation, and value) — The Hue, Saturation, and Value controls work similarly to a color TV's tint, contrast, and brightness controls, respectively. The HSV model is generally the most intuitive for those with no background in color theory.
- Hue - Valid range is from 0 to 359
- Saturation - Valid range is from 0 to 100
- Value - Valid range is from 0 to 100
RGB (0-1) — The valid ranges of Red, Green, and Blue are 0-1.
CMY (cyan, magenta, and yellow) — The valid ranges of cyan, magenta, and yellow are 0-255. Cyan, magenta, and yellow, along with black, are the colors used in four-color process printing.

Color Components |
The color components control the relative amounts of red, green, and blue for each custom color. |
# |
You can enter Web colors in hexadecimal format. The valid values can either be six digit or eight digit. If you enter a six digit value, it is treated as RRGGBB. If you enter eight digit values, the first two digits should have the hexadecimal value FF and the next six digits are treated as RRGGBB. |
