Shorten
|
In all three
Shorten modes, you must pick the shape near
its end point for it to be modified. If you pick in the middle third of the
shape length, each end is shortened by half the specified value.
- - Shortens a shape by picking two
points. The perpendicular distances to the shape centerline specifies the
shortening amount.
- - Shortens a shape by explicitly
indicating the value.
- - Shortens the shape by the value
entered in the
Default option.
- Default -
Provides a default value for the
Shorten methods.

Lengthen
|
These functions can be used analogously to shape
shortening in order to extend a shape.
- - Lengthens a shape by picking
two points. The perpendicular distances to the shape centerline specifies the
lengthening amount.
- - Lengthens a shape by explicitly
indicating the value.
- - Lengthens the shape by the
value entered in the
Default option.
- Default -
Provides a default value for the
Lengthen methods.
Warning: Shape ends modified by a cut can
not be lengthened.

Creates a parametric notch (cope) on a shape where
it intersects with another shape. When you select a shape pair, the Cope dialog
opens.

|
Creates a notch (cope) on a shape manually. When you
select a shape and the end to cope, the Cope dialog opens to the Shape End tab.

Miter cuts
|
- - Combines two shapes by means of
a mitred cut, which can also be carried out as 3D-cut. A bisecting line
determines the cutting plane. If the height of the two shapes differs, the
outer edges are not aligned.
- - Combines two shapes by means of
a mitred cut. The intersection points of outer and inner edges determine the
cutting plane. This means that even shapes of different height are correctly
cut aligned.
- - Combines two shapes with an arc
element of the shape type picked first that is inserted with the specified
Radius value.
- Don't
lengthen shapes - When on, the miter cuts performed on shapes that
do not intersect are only applied to the first shape selected. The second shape
is not lengthened or mitred.
- Radius -
Specifies the radius of the arc element to be inserted when using the
miter cut. The this
radius can either be entered as absolute value or as many times the maximum
diameter of the first shape.
- Gap - Specifies
a gap to be maintained between the shapes at the miter cuts.
Note: A logical link
is created between the parts at these cutting commands. The result will be that
if one part is modified, the cut will be automatically updated.
