Skin Solid Feature
Used to construct a solid, or surface, using two or more section profiles to define the shape.
Before using this tool, you must first create two or more section profiles to define the shape of the solid, or surface.
Section profiles are either open (such as lines, line strings, arcs, complex chains, and B-spline curves) or closed (such as blocks, ellipses, and complex shapes).
Once the solid has been created, you can use the Move Feature tool to move any of the section profiles and reshape the solid.
Any or all of the section profiles can be created using dimension-driven design (DDD) elements. In these instances, use the Modify Profile tool to change a section profile, after creating the solid. Changes to a (DDD) section profile will generate reshaping of the solid created from them.
The section profiles are converted to Construction Class elements during creation of the solid. After creating the solid, they are visible only if you have Construction elements displayed in the active view(s).
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Thickness | Sets the wall thickness when a hollow solid, or a surface with thickness is required. |
Equation icon | Becomes active when the section profile is selected. Opens a dialog that optionally lets you define Thickness with a variable. For more information, see Variable Driven Modeling and Constraints. |
Profile Start is ID Point | If on, the section profiles are aligned by the identification point, thereby preventing twisting. |
Reparameterize Curves | Where a profile curve has all the knots concentrated in a certain region, such as at the beginning of the curve, it may be that the 0.5 knot is not near the middle of the curve. If on, this option attempts to rebuild the profile curve such that the 0.5 knot corresponds, as near as possible, to the middle of the curve. |
Keep Profile | If on, the original section profiles are retained in the model. |
