Defining the Active Entity
The row that is designated as the target row to be attached to an element when a linkage is created is called the Active Entity.
It becomes the only row in a special table named AE. The Active Entity can be thought of as a temporary holding place for data multiplication. It can be created several different ways:
- It can be defined graphically with the Define Active Entity Graphically tool.
- It can be created directly with the ACTIVE ENTITY (AE=) key-in.
- It can be located and copied from a seed row in the existing table with the FIND (FI=) key-in.
The Show Active Entity tool is used to check the values in the Active Entity.
