OpenPlant Modeler Help

Join Tool for HVAC

Used to connect two ducts using either an elbow or branching component or mending a segment containing a break.

Accessed from:
  • Ribbon: OpenPlant Modeler > HVAC > Manipulation
  • Ribbon: Plant Design > HVAC > Manipulation
  • Modeler Tools ribbon group

Displays the following control allowing the user to decide what component to use and to set tolerances for the connection.

SettingDescription
Join Method The following methods can be used to join the two duct sections.
  • Elbow - Joins with an elbow/bend fitting for any angle.
  • Take Off - Joins perpendicular and angled take off intersections with a take off fitting. Default take off fittings are selected from the available catalogs.
  • Transition - Joins the two ends of the ducts using a transition with the defined maximum angle.
Tolerance Sets the maximum allowable linear distance between two ducts. Centers must be within the allowable tolerance distance to be joined. If the distance between the centers of the selected components is greater than the allowed distance, the tolerance must be increased to join the two successfully.

Maximum Angle Maximum angle is used to calculate run and rise offset for the transition.
Note: This field only enables if the "Join with Transition" option is selected.
